I won't say much more, except that our understanding of it changes and then we are thankfully left not to deal with it any further.<br /><br />If you want rules: after you finish you may want to check out some of Brandon Sanderson's books (the writer who is finishing WoT w/ Robert Jordan's notes). That guy writes in a way that rules are very strictly bound to the storyline and does so skillfully.<br />And if you like a magic system that makes sense one way or another I have to reiterate: skip Terry Goodkind.
